cate & levi :: stuffed toys for kids

Who doesn’t love unique handmade accessories or toys for their kids?  In my mind much loved, one of a kind, handmade toys are the ones worth saving as memories of childhood. Cate & Levi take this to a new level with their toys and accessories made from reclaimed wool.  Cute, unique, well-made, and socially conscious?  Score!

We were lucky enough to try out one of their change purses. 4-year-old Michaela, is getting more excited every day for summer and visiting my grandparents’ cottage.  She knows that when we go there some relative or another can be convinced into a trip to the candy store.  This year I’ve informed her that she’s old enough to earn her own money for buying candy.

Now, don’t worry, she’s 4 and her jobs include picking up toys, extra chores, helping outdoors, etc.  But she’s excited every time she makes a dime or quarter and oddly enough I think my grandparents’ cottage is nearly one of the last stores ever that still sells 5¢ candy.  Her new Cate & Levi Moose change purse is getting nice and full waiting for summer to start and in a couple months that $2.65 in loose change will be a large mountain of candy to burn off at the lake.

Cate & Levi was started by owner and dad, Josh Title.  While he and his wife were awaiting the birth of their first child he noticed that there was a lack of one of a kind, responsibly made, and beautifully designed products for children.  To fill this need Josh started Cate & Levi using reclaimed wool sweaters found as near to home as possible.

Because each product is handmade by local artisans using the reclaimed wool no two Cate & Levi products will ever be the same.  I think that it is really neat to note that when you order a Cate & Levi product you specify if it is intended for a Boy or Girl as part of the ordering process.

Michaela is especially fond of her Moose change purse, “I like his black-striped horns that stick out, and his mouth that eats my money!” she proudly informed me as she added another 10¢ to her Moose’s mouth. my SIMPLE star rating :: 5 out of 5
