I was pretty excited when I heard there was a 2nd Despicable Me coming out. My girls and I really enjoyed the first one, and seeing previews for the second, made me laugh just watching them. What’s not to love – a combination of Steve Carell and the minions. Perfection and major hilarity together. In this movie, a new, pretty prominent character was introduced. And from the second I saw her, I knew I was going to love her character.
So let’s get this started…with a trailer ::
Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’s worldwide blockbuster Despicable Me entertained audiences around the globe in 2010, grossing more than $540 million and becoming the 10th-biggest animated motion picture in U.S. history. In summer 2013, get ready for more Minion madness in Despicable Me 2.
Chris Meledandri and his acclaimed filmmaking team create an all-new comedy adventure featuring the return of (former?) super-villain Gru (Steve Carell), his adorable girls, the unpredictably hilarious Minions…and a host of new and outrageously funny characters.
Starring the voices of Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Benjamin Bratt, Miranda Cosgrove, Russell Brand, Steve Coogan, Ken Jeong, Elsie Fisher, Dana Gaier, Moises Arias
Gru is the same character in Despicable Me 2 as he was in the 1st. Plain awesome, dry, funny and loving. I love his girls in this movie too. There are some more edgy (boy crazy) scenes this time around, but nothing I wouldn’t allow my 4 and 7 year olds to watch.
Some new villians and a great new story line too. I would say it’s safe for even the little ones who get scared easily. There was only one SMALL scene that would get the little ones on the edge of their seats. But honestly, if they don’t get scared, they will probably just laugh at this. My oldest is very sensitive to scary parts, so she did look away at one part when the bad guy had taken the “serum”….mwahahaha. 🙂
The adult humor, {not raunchy humor, just adult type thinking jokes}… was high in this. My daughter turned to me a couple times and said, “why is everyone laughing mom?” I’m saying that so that you know adults will enjoy this as well. It’s not just a laugh because your kids are laughing sort of movie. You will be laughing out loud right along side them.
Last thing I want to share with you. I just downloaded this last night on my iPhone. Search Minion Rush in your apple iTunes store (it’s available for the “other” device too 🙂 ). Super fun game for you AND the littles! You can read more about it below…
