I was provided with a media discount in exchange for sharing my thoughts on Hershey and Harrisburg. As always, all opinions are my own.
We just got back from a fabulous family vacation to Hershey and Harrisburg, PA. I’ll be popping back in to share some reviews on each of the places we visited while we were there, but I wanted to give a quick overview first in case any of you are heading that way. Visit Hershey & Harrisburg was a huge help when we planned our trip–so much information on everything from hotels to food to activities.
Where we stayed. We opted for the Best Western Premier in Harrisburg. With a family of five, we all sleep better when we can have a suite and the suite at the Best Western Premier worked perfectly. One room with 2 queen beds and another with a king plus a small kitchenette was plenty of space for our family. As an added bonus, each of the kids got a Hershey bar and a token for free ice cream when we checked in. We also had a blast playing in the large, indoor heated pool.
What we did. We did SO MUCH while we were here. I’ll leave links to the places we visited, but I’ll be back to share more about each one in detail. We really wanted to be able to enjoy nature, learn and have lots of fun on this trip so we chose activities that we thought would meet at least one of those goals. For nature, we chose to go to Indian Echo Caverns and learn about geology and underground formations and also go on a Pride of the Susquehanna riverboat cruise. We then headed a bit outside of the Hershey/Harrisburg area and headed to Amish country in Lancaster County. Between The Amish Experience and the farm tour with Aaron and Jessica’s Buggy Rides we learned so much about the Amish culture. And for a huge dose of fun, we headed to Hersheypark and Hershey’s Chocolate World. Hersheypark is full of rides–from small kiddie rides to rollercoasters to a great water park. And Hershey’s Chocolate World offers all things chocolate. We tried the chocolate tasting experience and the create your own candy bar.
We were able to squeeze in even more fun while we were gone, but I wanted to at least share a few of my favorites here. Hershey and Harrisburg is a destination on its own, but if you happen to be heading to Philadelphia, it’s definitely worth the time to spend a few days in Hershey and Harrisburg! I can’t wait to share more of our highlights over the next few weeks.
