Did you know that March is National Craft Month? Until recently I was unaware of this fun factoid, but now that I know I have been putting my knowledge to good use. This week alone I’ve completed three craft projects!
My second project of the week came about thanks to the new Dinosaur Train print fabrics from Quilting Treasures. You can see just how much we love Jim Henson’s Dinosaur Train at our house in my recent review here. These fun fabrics feature Buddy the T-Rex, his adoptive family The Pteranodons, and many of their other friends from riding the Dinosaur Train.
My crafty came out while creating the bulletin board shown from this Quilting Treasures free instructional download. My finished board looks a lot different than what is pictured to the right, however, I really do like how it turned out! I think that the bright pink ribbon instead of braid worked really well to “girlify” the Dinosaur Train fabric for my little princesses’ room.
Project Tips ::
- Follow the directions and read them through before starting
- Glue the fabric in small portions
- Buy extra braid (or in my case some heavy-duty ribbon)
- Don’t be surprised if you need to do this project over a couple days. I spent 2 1/2 hours on it one afternoon and another hour the following day.
- Glue down the push pins as well if you have young children (safety first!)
My girls love this fun bulletin board with all their PBS Kids Dinosaur Train friends so much that I’m already planning on making another so they can have even more space to put all their paper “treasures.” If you’re more crafty than me and know how to quilt you should check out this other free tutorial from Quilting Treasures for a Dino 1-2-3 quilt. FYI :: Fabric is not intended for children’s sleepwear. SIMPLE star rating :: 5 out of 5
Dinosaur Train fabrics :: approximately $6 – $10 per yard can be found at select independent retailers. Check your local Quilting Treasures carrier to purchase.

March 17, 2012 at 2:01 amThey are so in love with it. I’m going to have to get more fabric and make a second one for Dani… of course that means that I’d need to print up some 4x6s from all the photos on my computer for her too. Haven’t printed any since she was born! LOL!
