Confession time, ladies!

What does your daily skin care regimen look like?

If it’s anything like mine, it probably includes an assortment of lotions and a variety of make-up applied throughout the day; then a make-up remover or facial wash/scrub; and, of course, some night-time lotion to help do whatever it is promising it will do for us in 8 short hours. And repeat. Right?

Being a biology major, I’ve always been well aware that our skin is our largest organ. That it absorbs most of what we put on it (or around it). And that it also serves as a big source of protection for our body. So I’m always trying to pick out those skin-care items that seem to be the “healthiest” for my skin but still get the job done.

It really wasn’t until I had kids that I became even more conscious of what I was putting on our skin. And now that they are getting to the age where they are developing their own skin care regimen, it’s becoming even more important to me. Because, with most things, it’s the habits we start when we are younger that will carry through with us in life.

For my younger daughter, it’s the battle of eczema. We’ve dealt with mild flare-ups over the years but nothing a little extra lotion couldn’t handle. But this year it seems worse. Or more consistent. Or maybe more resistant? We’ve tried the specialty lotions, which give her some relief but the eczema is still there. It really wasn’t until we were introduced to the Simple Sugars skin care line that she’s really started to see her eczema go away!

Now, I need to pause for a second and tell you that Simple Sugars can’t officially make any claims about its affects with conditions like eczema. But I can share with you our story and the story of the Simple Sugars founder, Lani.

It was actually Lani’s story that drew me to this line!

As a child, Lani suffered from sensitive skin and eczema (just like my Zoe). Eager to create more products that even more people around her would love, she expanded her line and, in 2013, pitched her products to the ever-intimidating investors of ABC’s “Shark Tank”. “Shark” Mark Cuban “bit” (aka. invested) and Simple Sugars exploded from there!

But let me get back to our story and our experience with Simple Sugars.

After hearing Lani’s story and seeing all of the natural ingredients in the products, I felt very comfortable with letting my Zoe try it out. And she couldn’t have been happier to give it a try! “It’s like I’m at a spa, mom!”

She’s right! It totally is!

She tried the Strawberry all-natural body scrub with emu oil and loved it! First off, it smells like fresh, delicious strawberries. Which probably would have been enough for her right there. But it also left her skin feeling soft and moisturized WITHOUT the use of any additional lotions.
