For the past two years I have been making Chili Cook-Off Trophies in support of the Kidney Transplant Foundation. Kidney Disease is an issue that is dear to my heart for the past four years I have had low kidney function. This past September it dropped even lower and have been diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease or CKD. Although this may seem like the end of the world to someone that is not very familiar with this disease it’s not so bad. I knew that this was diagnosis was inevitable due to my medical issues, but thought I had at least 20 more years before I had to deal with it. At this stage you don’t do anything except for monitor your kidney function, diet, exercise and refrain from bad habits.
Supplies:
- Cans of various sizes
- Plastic Spoons
- Empty frosting container
- Elmer’s Glue
- Hot Glue
- Hot Glue Gun
- Dry kidney beans
- Plastic bowls
- Spray Paint: Gold, Silver and Brown
Step 1: First you need to decide how you will stack your trophies. Obviously you will need to have three different sizes if you plan to have a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner.
Step 2: You will need to use Hot Glue to attach your cans, frosting container and bowls.
Step 3: Once you have your cans, frosting container and bowls hot glued you can begin by adding the kidney beans. First add Elmer’s Glue to your bowl and sprinkle kidney beans on top of the glue. Continue this process until you have the desired look. While you are constructing your kidney beans make sure you place you plastic spoon inside the bowl of kidney beans.
Step 4: Once all you glue has dried spray your trophies gold, sliver and brown to represent 1st, second and 3rd place. You can add labels to explain what the trophies are for or just give them as they are.
