Last night, my children spent the night with their grandparents, and today, my husband is putting in a couple extra hours at work. So…drumroll…I am home alone on a Saturday morning enjoying some “me” time! Naturally, that means I’m jumping into a few crafty projects. And, bonus…with no one around to distract me, I’m even enjoying my coffee hot! It’s like a dream come true for this mother of tiny humans!
Over the past month, we’ve been nesting a little bit in preparation for baby. This week the project of choice was creating some super fabulous headbands and bows for our little girl. The headbands were a success, so today, we move on to some bows! I picked up some wool felt pieces and created a template for making felt bows. These bows are simple to make, and are quite versatile. Give them a try and put some together in a few different colors. You will always be equipped with a bow for any outfit.
The supplies…
- glue gun and hot glue sticks
- felt
- fabric scissors
- felt bow pattern
- alligator clips
The how to…
- Gather your supplies, print felt bow pattern, and cut out pattern pieces.
- Use pattern to cut out felt bow pieces.
- Apply hot glue to the center of the middle bow pieces and fold ends in.
- Glue middle bow pieces to bow tails.
- Glue center bow piece on front of bow and secure ends behind tail piece.
- Glue alligator clip to the back of the bow.
- Admire your handiwork, and pass those beautiful bows along to a sweet little one!
Are bows or headbands a must have addition to your daughter’s outfits? How many bows are too many? Is that even a valid question?!?!

May 24, 2016 at 7:01 pmI love all the variety of bows and other decorations for clips and headbands but my daughter will not let me put them in her hair, I’m hoping she’ll grow out of that soon. I’ll have to save this diy project though because those kind of clips may be easier to get in her hair without her noticing.
