diy psalms 46:5 canvas

I enjoy creating art for my home.  Psalms has several powerful verses for women.  One of my favorite verses in Psalms is chapter 46 verse 5 ” God is within her, she will not fail”.  I painted this modified verse at my last Paint Party, and used it as my example.  My daughter needed a and inspirational piece to hang on her bedroom wall and this was the perfect verse for her.

Materials:

• 11″ X 14″ canvas
• Acrylic paint
• Paintbrushes
• Carbon paper
• Print of your favorite verse

STEP 1:  I began by selecting two colors similar in hue and used the canvas as my palette.  It’s so much easier to blend your paints as you work so that you have less separation in colors.

STEP 2:  I choose not to have a distinct line in the area designated as my halo area.  That’s where blending on your canvas comes in handy.  It’s much easier to work wet on wet instead of trying to blend your colors once the fist layer is dry.  Make sure you work fast so that your paint doesn’t dry before you have a chance to blend your colors.

STEP 3:  Once the background dries you can center your verse on top of carbon paper to trace.  Anyone can paint like a professional by this trick.  If you choose to use carbon paper just make sure that you do not press down hard or you will have a black dust all over your canvas.

STEP 4:  When you have finished tracing your verse paint it using a bold color like gold, black or white to make your painting POP!  Everyone had beautiful paintings at the end of the two Paint Party.  The best part about Paint Parties is that you get to share that time with the women that surround  you.
