DIY wreath :: adaptable for every season

I love to decorate our home, but I’m not too fond of crafts. That being said, ANYONE can do this DIY project. You can use this wreath tutorial to make a wreath of any size. If you have a large space to fill, this is a very inexpensive way to add to your décor.

SUPPLIES

  • Grapevine wreath
  • Floral garland (boxwood, eucalyptus, etc –  you pick!) You may need more then one strand if you are trying to make a larger wreath.
  • Optional: burlap bow

I found the best deal on these supplies at Hobby Lobby. Try to get it during a half off floral sale. You could also work the deals and coupons at Michael’s. My 30 inch wreath was around $20 because I did get all the supplies during sales.

I was trying to fill a large space on our wall. I was looking for extra details to embellish the look. I added the foil-pressed gold letter L framed artwork from Minted in the center of my big wreath.

ASSEMBLY

This is so easy to put together. I put the grapevine wreath on a flat surface and I simply draped the floral garland around the wreath. I could have used floral wire, but tucking the strands into the vines worked just fine too. Remember, I’m not a fan of crafting and floral wire would make this project dangerously close to a craft. 🙂 Play with your garland at bit and tuck it into the vines so it will stay on the face of the wreath. I added a pre-made burlap bow and attached it with the twisty tie on the back of the bow. This wreath project will take you longer to read this post then it will to assemble.

If you are using this wreath for your front door you will need to consider floral wire, but I have had my wreath up for quite some time on a wall in our living room and it’s a very nice addition to our space. I came upon making this wreath myself because I couldn’t pay $50+ for a pre-made wreath sold in stores.

ALL SEASONS

smaller wreath sizeHere’s another fun aspect to this wreath. You can change the bow out if you want to adapt it to different seasons. Around St. Patrick’s day I had a green chevron burlap bow that I found at Hobby Lobby. You can incorporate Easter eggs into the greenery in the Spring. I plan to add red berries and a Christmas bow for the holidays.

You can certainly make this wreath in various sizes. I added this cute little wreath to my mirror recently. Have fun with your space! I enjoy decorating our home and I’m always looking for EASY frugal DIY projects. This is one of the easier projects I’ve taken on to spruce up our space!
