We received the Downlight® Hoodie from Eddie Bauer. It’s definitely not a big and bulky coat. I’m assuming you can gather that from the photos in this post. It’s a perfect coat for this time of year! It is very soft on the outside, so soft I was worried she would rip it. Yet, she has worn this for about two weeks straight now, daily, and there is not one sign of wear. This includes recess time at school people – no wear. I’m sold on this coat given that little fact.
The hood gives lots of cover, and given the windy days we all endure from time to time, it’s essential in my eyes for a child’s coat. Not only does it cover, but it stays put and hides my daughter’s head from the wind as well as the rain. Pretty soon, it’ll be hiding her face from the snow. Gag.This jacket is great for the kid who likes to be active, the kid who likes to be adventurous. It will not hold them back from trekking around outside and getting into mischief. It’s not large enough where it will be hindering them from crawling around on the playground while playing hide and seek with their friends, or from hanging from the monkey bars. I couldn’t be happier with this jacket!
Sizing. My daughter is wearing an 8 across the board right now. I received this coat in a M (10). While there is room for growth, it’s not so big that it gets in the way. I think we definitely got the right size for her!
Ok, a few more details pulled from the Eddie Bauer site, for those that like details:
Ultralight insulating layer with 650 fill Premium Down to keep young adventurers warm. Nylon shell has StormRepel® durable water repellent (DWR) finish that sheds moisture so it doesn’t soak into the fabric.

November 2, 2014 at 3:18 pmI love Eddie Bauer for myself, but for some reason I had no idea that they made kid’s clothes and outerwear too! I know firsthand that the quality is awesome. I’ll have to get my daughters Eddie Bauer jackets the next time they grow out of their current ones. Thanks for clueing me into their kids’ line. 🙂
