I am glad this school year is coming to an end. After my son broke his arm last week I knew he wouldn’t be able to write for the remainder of the school year. All I can do is get him an excuse from the doctor and pray for the best. Up until that point he had been doing the maximum of all of his assignments, and I had him doing extra assignments in the beginning because his teacher had already discussed retaining him.
Both my son (1st) and daughter (4th) are finished for the school year, and my eldest finishes Wednesday! My fourth grader had a parking lot party for the end of year festivities! Her teacher did a really good job with communication during our Distance Learning. My daughter ended up getting at least four packages from her teacher in the mail, daily communication from ClassDojo & Google Classroom, and weekly ZOOM meetings with her class.
As for my son’s teacher we haven’t had the best of communication she uses ClassTag which we cannot see the posts at home, and posted the assignments on her classroom website. He was disappointed that his teacher didn’t have an end of the year party nor did he get anything in the mail from her.
My eldest had to keep up with seven subjects taught be seven different teachers. Only three of the teachers were in communication throughout her Distance Learning. Her other teachers sent out Distance Learning Packets for her to complete at home and turn in. I think her school is the only one that is actually recording grades for the Distance Learning Packets. The elementary school hasn’t even recorded any grades for all the work they have done at home. My daughter missed out on playing soccer for high school so hopefully next year school will resume as normal.
