It’s fall, y’all! In the south fall doesn’t mean sweaters and hot cocoa just yet, but it does mean football (Go DAWGS!) and hayrides and trips to the pumpkin patch. Bright and brilliant leaves and the sound of fallen leaves crackling under foot. Ahh…I really, really love it.
To welcome fall, we’ll be making a few fun fall crafts and starting a few fall projects. Here are a few things we’ll be working on when we aren’t outside enjoying the wonderful weather.
Scarecrow Treat Bags
How cute would these be for school treats to share with friends? Or maybe you could even make cookies for your elderly neighbors and deliver them in this cute bag. {photo credit Katherine Marie Photography}
Thankful Tree
For the past few years we have been spending the fall focused on thanksgiving. Every day we write down something each person is thankful for and add it to whichever thankful craft we decided to do. One year we had a kraft paper tree taped to the wall and we added a leaf per person each day. One year we used food skewers, construction paper and a pumpkin laying on its side to make a turkey with feathers. But this thankful tree idea? So pretty! We’ll certainly be doing it this year! {Photo credit: Emily Rose of Simply Vintagegirl}
Nutty (and Bolty) Pumpkin
Remember when I said it doesn’t get cool here until later in the year? All those still-warm days mean that our carved pumpkins don’t last too long. To make our creations last longer we’ve tried a lot of things: painting pumpkins, drawing on pumpkins, and covering pumpkins with stickers, but my kids really loved the nut and bolts pumpkin that we made at our local hardware store’s family day last year. {How-to & photo credit: Lowe’s}
Leaf Painting
Last fall my daughter did this craft with a group of girls at church and I loved how it turned out. You could make a really cool fall wall art display by buying a few stretched canvases and making a leaf print series.{How-to & photo credit: Kleas}
Easy Caramel Apples
Okay…so maybe this one isn’t really a craft, but it’s certainly tasty! Fall just isn’t fall until you have caramel apples. Simply scoop out the center, pour in the warmed caramel, then cool and cut. It doesn’t get much easier than that! {How-to & photo credit: Kristin Daley}
