Whatcom Falls Park

Located in Bellingham, Whatcom Falls Park is just one of the many places in Washington that offer an outdoors, nature-filled experience for kids. It’s not all rugged outdoors though; while you’ll definitely see more natural attractions here like waterfalls, towering trees and the occasional friendly critter or two, the park also has designated areas where visitors can rest and have a picnic or play tennis on their tennis courts.

Whatcom Falls Park is also accessible via car. Just make sure to take exit 253 to Lakeway Drive from I-5.

Speaking from experience, Disneyland can be challenging. Trying to make sure that you have eyes on all three of your kids who tend to wander off in different directions can be anxiety-inducing. The Riverfront Park is a toned down version of an amusement park. It’s got amusement rides like a historic carousel, gondola rides, and even an IMAX theatre.

Since Riverfront Park is essentially a mixed-use space, it also transforms into a space for arts and events. We caught a few shows at their Performing Arts Center, and even saw a few buskers playing instruments and dancing in public areas.
