Traditions are something both my husband I want to keep going with our kids as they get older! We love to bring traditions from our own childhood homes and carry them on or change them to suit our new little growing family. One that we both had growing up was Family Pizza Night. For my husband it was Friday night. Pizza was the meal and TGIF was what everyone looked forward to watching together. Our pizza night was Saturday and it was a night that anyone was welcome to join in with the family. As the youngest in my family I always looked forward to having lots of people around as my older siblings always had friends join us.
We have pizza night in our home now too. Right now we either have it on Friday or Saturday, whatever works better for that week. We change it up sometimes too, so I wanted to share with you a few of my favorite ways to make pizza night fun.
Summer Grilling
When we lived in Chicago, we often would grill outside our condo. One of our favorite things to make on our little charcoal grill was pizza! Each person made their own little pizza and we loved the taste of the crust over on the grill!
Make Your Own
One of my favorites now with my son is make your own pizza! He always wants to help in the kitchen, so it’s a fun way to get him excited about what we are eating. It’s also a chance to teach him all the different ways to add vegetables and different meat to an ordinary pizza. He is more interested in trying new things if he picks it out for his own pizza!
This is also fun with extra guests. We just set up a little pizza topping section and let everyone make a personal pizza! This week we tried this with an amazing crust from Simple Mills. I’ve shared their healthy options for baking mixes before, but we loved the Simple Mills pizza crust made with almond flour. These products only have 6 or 7 simple ingredients, but are a delicious, healthy option!
Delivery, Take Out, or Night Out
I love making our own pizzas, but I also love not having to have any prep or clean up! We don’t have as many options where we live now, but we always enjoy trying a new place, or enjoying an old favorite! When we can make it back to Chicago, we love to get our favorite deep dish pizzas!
However you do pizza night, it’s a great simple tradition to have with your family and an easy way to include others! I love the ways you can make pizza a little healthier with products like Simple Mills!
Does your family have a pizza night? What do you do to make it special?
