fighting off those fall allergies

Warm days. Cool nights. These late summer days are absolutely heavenly!

But then it starts. Slightly at first. Eyes get a little itchy. You find yourself sniffling a little more. Funny, you don’t feel sick. And then you find yourself full blown into fall allergies!

Ah, yes….Along with those warm days and cool nights come the ragweed!!

Ragweed

It’s one of the main culprits to fall allergies thought the United States. Starting in August and lasting through September and October, ragweed pollen blows rampant throughout most of the United States {count yourselves lucky, Pacific NorthWest, on this one}.

Just to give you a hint at how prevalent this plant is :: One single ragweed plant can produce about a billion grains of pollen in one season! And ragweed pollen can travel hundreds of miles on the wind. Yup, even if you don’t have ragweed in your immediate area, you’re still not off the hook.

So, how do you fight this nasty fall allergy inducer?

Some people say to just close up the windows and stay inside. Yeah, that doesn’t sound like too much fun to me. I love the breeze blowing through our house and, although we’ll have to close up the windows for winter eventually, I’m not ready for it yet.

Our go-to is a good air purifier with a HEPA-type filter. And for that, Febreze has us covered!

Febreze Air Purifier

Using a three step process, the Febreze HEPA-Type Air Purifier removes up to 99% of air pollutants and allergens (odors, dust, pet dander, and POLLEN!). Here’s how it works:

I love, love, love that they included that third step of adding a fresh scent to the air before it is released by the Air Purifier. It eliminates the need for extra air fresheners in the house!

The Febreze HEPA-Type Air Purifier comes in two sizes. The tower is great for medium and larger rooms, while the mini-tower works perfectly for smaller rooms. Both are available in white or gray and both come with a Linen & Sky™ scent cartridge.

What I really like about these Air Purifiers is that they have manual controls that allow you to select the level of scent being released from the purifier and controls that allow you to select a low, medium, or high cleaning level. We started ours out on low earlier this month and will be moving up to medium and high as the pollen levels increase. Then we’ll switch it back to low through the winter months to keep the air clean of dust and dander. Also, the purifiers feature indicator lights when your scent cartridge and filter need to be replaced.

Febreze Air Purifier

Febreze has been a long time helper in keeping my house smelling fresh (no easy task with three kids and two dogs), so I absolutely loved the idea of using them to help keep the air free of allergens and pollutants, too!

Allergies always bug me, but I haven’t tried a humidifier yet. This sounds great!

This looks like a nice air purifier. We don’t suffer too badly from allergies other than my son who is allergic to cats. My daughter does have asthma though so this would be great to have. I like that this has indicator lights.

This is a very nice air purifier, and we have a lot of smoke outside that is from the wildfires and it smells awful. I already feel like I am having problems with allergies. I need this air purifier!

I am very allergic to Ragweed in the fall. I look forward to the cool weather but not fall allergies. I do need a good air filter like this one!
