The first six month of a baby’s life set the stage for his or her future. When baby is born, parents focus on the basics – feeding, gaining weight and having all the right gear, but one thing you might overlook is your baby’s gut health. The first six months of a baby’s life are crucial for the development and programming of the immune system and metabolism, and this is closely linked to baby having the right gut microbiome in place during this important developmental period.
I wish this was something that doctor’s talked about in the first couple appointments with your newborn. My two oldest kids of 11 and 7, this was something that was never talked about with my primary care doctor. It definitely would have been very helpful with my 2nd child due to all the gut issues she had. I’m not saying that all doctors don’t but mine didn’t.
The first 6 months of baby’s life are critical for baby’s immune system and metabolic development – and the composition of baby’s gut microbiome plays a significant role in this process. The presence of bad bacteria in baby’s gut is linked to a higher risk of autoimmune and metabolic issues like colic, eczema, allergies, diabetes, and obesity later in life. When more good bacteria is present in the gut, it creates a strong, protective wall and crowds out the bad bacteria. Unfortunately, today, 9 out of 10 babies are experiencing a disruption in their gut, causing more bad bacteria to thrive.
This is where Evivo comes in. Something I wish I had with my daughter in the first 6 months of life. Evivo, a once daily baby probiotic, addresses this issue head on. Evivo is clinically proven to restore the good bacteria called B. infantis to baby’s gut, while reducing the potentially harmful bacteria by 80%. This potentially harmful bacteria is linked to colic, eczema, allergies, diabetes and obesity later in life. This speaks volumes to me.
It’s crucial to make sure your baby’s gut is on the right track from the very beginning, so it has all of the good bacteria it needs while it’s still in the development stage. By addressing the issue of gut health during this early window, it allows baby’s gut, digestive system and immune system to continue to grow, protect and thrive before introducing solid food around the 6-month mark.
As a mom, we don’t know these things and count on our doctors and caregivers to help us out. My daughter was fussy and always crying for the first 9 -12 months of her life, and for the life of me had no clue what was wrong with her. Her poop was down right toxic smelling. I knew something wasn’t right but I didn’t get to much help form others except going to chiropractor. This helped somewhat but not 100%. I look back on those days and I can surely tell you that Evivo would have helped my daughter. Her gut health wasn’t up to par when she was that little!
Moms probably won’t understand how all of this actually works, we just want to know that it does work. Gut health in the first 6 months is important. Way more then we know. I definitely avoided giving my kids antibiotics the first 6 months of life because I know it messes up the good bacteria in their gut. By no means am I a doctor or giving medical advice, these are just my opinions and things that I went through with my kids.
How was your baby’s gut health the first 6 months of your their life?
