We book last-minute trips all the time, so we know what stays the same, what needs to be focused on, and what you need to do to arrange the best trip ever… even if you’re planning at the very last-minute! We love to be spontaneous and not plan to much when we go to Disney. We like to experience in the moment, and sometimes that’s hard to do with a toddler. I wanted to share with you so tips for when you do go with a toddler.
1.Plan what you can….
Even if you don’t have weeks and months to really plan, take an hour or two and get your thoughts in order. Think through what you want to see, where you want to stay, and what you want to ride. It can be easy to overlook important details or forget what you really want to do unless you take a breath and think. You don’t need to plan on what you want to see, just take a look at what they have to offer and keep those in mind for when you arrive.
2. Don’t get discouraged…..
Along with being dedicated, remember not to get discouraged! It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when you get there, especially when it’s last-minute. But take a deep breath and remember that no matter what, you’re still at DISNEY! And keep reminding yourself that no matter what you do, whether you plan a year or a week ahead of time, it’s impossible to see and to EVERYTHING. And with a toddler you never know what will happen.
3. Pack for a toddler…..
Bring a stroller, pack your snacks and drinks and bring ponchos (it rained so much when we were there). Be ready for anything. This is where flexibility is key. You kind of need to be OK with just going with the flow. Toddlers will always want to do something other then what you planned, do go with the flow, it will be FUN regardless.
4. Splurge on a meal…..
While we didn’t have all meals at Disney, I did plan out to have one top meal and snacks while at Disney. Chef Mickey was one that I really wanted to do with the kids because it is a buffet and you get to meet and take photos with all the main characters while you are dining. It was the perfect start to our day and I definitely recommend reserving your spot to do this. It totally worth the wait and expense!
5. Just do Disney….
Now, I know everyone says you should get the park hopper and Fast Passes and such. We didn’t do any of that. We did the go with the flow and did Disney for the day. I do think Fast Passes would have been nice with a toddler, they will only stand in lines for so long. So, I definitely would recommend getting Fast Passes if you have little ones.
Remember to be in the moment and have fun while you are at Disney. There is so much to see and you won’t get to see all of it but it will be a blast with whatever you do get to see. There were a few things that we didn’t expect to happen while at Disney but we made the most of it. One of them being a down pour rain. We all got soaked but it was still a blast. This is why I suggested above to get the ponchos.
Being that this was the first Disney trip for our 3 year old, we had an amazing time and will definitely be doing it again soon.
One thing I did plan though, SHIRTS. Those are a must. It’s fun and exciting for the kids. We got our special made at CM2 Market Sisters.
