four tips to help kids eat healthier

Kids and healthy food don’t always seem to mix. Sometimes it’s like no matter what you do, you find them waging war against you while you are unaware. Although it is perfectly normal for you to expect meal time battles with your kids every so often, they should not become the norm. Here are some suggestions you can use to get them on track with their eating habits.

    • Talk it Out – Regardless of how old or young your children are, you should try to communicate with them about their eating habits. Let them know why you are concerned about them and why they should change them. Explain the benefits that can be achieved with a good diet and the bad effects that are the result of a poor one. You should let them share their concerns with you and try to answer their questions as thoroughly as possible. This is especially difficult with older ones because they are already set in there ways. My son is hard to convince sometimes.
    • Let Them See Action – It’s one thing for you to tell your children that they shouldn’t eat certain foods, but it’s another thing entirely when you don’t follow up with action. Set a good example for your children to follow so they will be more motivated to improve to their food selection. Let them see you throw away all of those chips, candies, and sodas. Let them see you making your grocery shopping lists. Let them see you try out different healthy foods. These actions will help to show them that you are serious and that they should be too.
    • Send Their Lunches – With school starting back up or if you often send your little ones to daycare, don’t forget to send their lunches with them. Pack one for them when they are out and about with you. Although schools and daycare’s do their best to honor your wishes regarding your children’s meals, they are not necessarily going to have the foods you prefer for your children to eat in stock. Protect your progress and your children’s new eating habits by packing them a lunch.

  • Protect Their Meals – Cater to your children’s love of new things and style with Arctic Zone’s kid’s lunch boxes. These bags are designed with the right enhancements that will keep all of your children’s beverages and meals hot and cold all day. Temperature is crucial when it comes to kids and their foods. If their food is supposed to be hot but is served to them cold, there’s a good chance that they may not eat it. They may trade it with someone else or toss it out. You want to promote good eating habits. A great way for you to do so is to allow your children to carry their lunches to school and daycare in style.

Children tend to like routine. If they seem happier eating foods that are unhealthy for them, it is because they have become comfortable with it. Take them out of their comfort zone a bit so they can adapt to a new norm. Remain persistent and continue to talk them about their new health food regimen in your home. Encourage them, reward them, and never stop motivating them to eat right. As they grow and become able to make better food choices for themselves, you’ll see that all of the time, energy, and knowledge you’ve invested was worth it.

Thanks for sharing. Getting kids to eat healthy can sometimes be a challenge. the best way to keep them from the not so healthy snacks is to not have them in the home at all.

Yes, I couldn’t agree more. We do this. It’s so much easier if it isn’t in the house.

I like to help pack my grandsons’ meals so I can make sure I include some healthier choices for them.

These are great tips! I work hard to keep my toddler daughter’s diet healthy, well-balanced and interesting. I agree that modeling good eating habits is one of the best things we can do to encourage good eating habits. I also try to keep healthy snacks with us when we’re out and about. These lunch boxes and containers are great, too, and a great way to keep the food “fun” for the kiddos! I find presentation is a huge contributor to whether my daughter will eat the food or not.

My son was always a picky eater. I did send his lunches with him to school. I do like the Arctic Zone’s kid’s lunch boxes, they would have been nice to have for him.
