When you live right outside of Beer City (a.k.a Grand Rapids, MI) you tend to develop an appreciation of all the great microbreweries in the area. It is not unusual for my husband to randomly bring me home a growler of my favorite local brews and quite a few of these local establishments also bottle their own brews for purchase.
There’s a couple things I’ve learned about picking up a full growler or six pack in the summer… cold things get condensation. Condensation makes growlers, bottles, and cans slippery. Slippery things get dropped (the ‘slippery things get dropped’ lesson is Basic Parenting 101 – that’s why we are all so quick to wrap a towel on our freshly bathed babies).
Knowing that broken glass and spilled beer is liable to make anyone cry I was excited to find out about that a longtime favorite company of mine made beer and wine totes. If you’re not familiar with Built NY you need to check them out online because they really do offer a great supply of insulated neoprene covers and totes for a wide selection of items.
But back to saving my favorite brews… I’m very excited to be using the Built NY Six Pack Tote and Insulated Growler Tote as we continue our summer of “Brewery Tour” date nights. The Six Pack Tote is basically the most comfortable six pack you will ever carry. Sliding in cans and standard sized bottles is a breeze and unlike with cardboard, the neoprene means you don’t have to worry about condensation weakening the bottom or ripping.
The Insulated Growler tote is much like the Six Pack Tote, except it is the exact size you need to carry your favorite growler. I was impressed with how easy it was to lift a full growler using the comfy handles and even with a toddler in one hand I could securely carry a full growler without worrying about dropping it!
Both totes fold flat for easy storage and are made of machine washable neoprene that insulate your items to help them stay cold. I mean, it’s not a closed cooler so keep in mind the ambient temp and other conditions for how long they will help. After three days of a migraine and a teething toddler I think that I will be putting my Insulated Growler Tote to good use tomorrow!
