We have a lot of Family Game Nights. Besides for entertaining the kids, it’s a fun way for us to all do something together between dinner and the routine of bedtime. Depending on the night we pick a game that will last the approximate amount of time that we have to play. It’s down to a science now (or rather a really good guessing game).
When the opportunity came up to try out two new releases from Wonder Forge I jumped at the chance to add them into our family’s game rotation. It wasn’t a matter of IF my girls would like the Disney Planes Sky Race™ Game and Disney Frozen Matching Game, but rather HOW MUCH they’d love these two new games based on characters from two of their favorite Disney movies.
First up let’s talk about the Disney Frozen Matching Game because honestly? Frozen. I don’t know about your house, but like most young girls, my two have become obsessed with all things Frozen. A game where you match up Sven, Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, Hans, and even… Marshmallow? Well, let’s just say my girls will play Disney Frozen Matching Game with or without mom or dad’s involvement.
It’s almost as magical as Elsa’s powers because this means that mom can get in an uninterrupted shower, a bathroom break on my own, or even a meal where I sit the whole way through!
The Disney Planes Sky Race™ Game is a little more involved, but after our first game together the girls were able to play by themselves. This game will have you moving around your house as you fly the plane to each of the Stage Markers using the Flight Control Tile Instructions to guide you. The Flight Control Tile Instructions tell you HOW to fly your plane to the next stage (such as sitting on your knees, lying on your back, with one eye covered, over your head, etc.).
After everyone has flown their plane towards the next Stage Marker, the person who gets their plane nearest wins that stage and keeps the Flight Control Tile. Each Flight Control Tile has a point value and once everyone finishes the race they add up the points from their Flight Control Tiles and move their Scoring Token accordingly on the Leaderboard. The player with the most points wins!
I have a feeling that the April showers may be coming a bit late this year, and I know that these two games will be sanity savers for me as we have upcoming rain days.
