get a grip on hair with girlie glue :: review

When my girls were born, they both had thick, dark hair that would hold hairbows. But several of our friends had the cutest little bald-headed babies and I remember hearing them talk about using those stretchy headbands to hold in bows and clips or using sticky substances to make those teeny tiny hairbows stick – stuff like honey or KY jelly. I try really hard not to judge people on their parenting choices. We’re all different and different isn’t bad, just different. But I have to admit that I remember thinking, “Um…what?” Wouldn’t honey attract bees? Or ants or something? And KY jelly? I…uh…well, whatever works for you, I suppose. I just am glad I don’t have to worry about it…”

Fast forward a few years and guess what? I found out that getting hairbows to stay in weren’t the only things that headbands and sticky stuff was good for. Little Miss Priss decided that she didn’t like her long locks and decided to cut herself some bangs. Evidence Exhibit A, including her adorable Rudolph nose left over from preschool the morning of the hair-cutting incident: bangsI tried ev.er.y.thing I could to keep those blasted bangs out of her face. Sometimes it’d be pretty adorable…for about 10 minutes. And then it’d be right back in her eyes. She didn’t seem to mind, but it was driving me bonkers. So when the opportunity came for us to try Girlie Glue, an all-natural and honey-free accessory glue, I had pretty high hopes for it. And you know what? It was as wonderful as I thought it would be!
girlie glue 1I pulled her hair to the side with my fingers, dabbed on a little girlie glue where the shortest hairs ended, and put the hair bow in a little further back (close enough to hide the glue but far enough back that it doesn’t look like it’s in the middle of her head). It stayed that way all day long! The glue starts out wet and sticky but dries fairly quickly and then when you’re done? It washes out easily with just a little water.
girlie glue 2And? Guess what else they sent in the package? Some super cute felt “earrings”. Oh, this girl has been flashing her bling every day since our Girlie Glue sample came! Just put a small dab of Girlie Glue on the back of the “earrings” and stick them on. This stuff has serious stick-ability! Even once her hair grows out, I’m certain we’ll be using Girlie Glue for “earrings” for a long time!Girlie Glue :: $5.99/tube
