Who doesn’t like to encourage their kids to get up and get moving? With two very active little girls in my house I’m especially fond of anything that helps encourage them to work out some of their boundless energy.
Get Moving with Ella Jenkins is a great new release from Smithsonian Folkways. There is a good chance you’ve heard of Ella Jenkins before, she has released 28 albums and 2 videos with Smithsonian Folkways since her first album in 1957!
After listening to Get Moving with Ella Jenkins it comes as no surprise to me that she is known as “The First Lady of Children’s Music.”
All of the songs on the album upbeat and fun and I have never before heard someone be able to convey instructions and physical movements so well to children only through the spoken word. Even my 3-year-old was able to listen to the movement or response instructions given by Ella in the songs and follow along!
This is a great album for kids and a fun way to teach them some new songs to get moving with!
