I am participating in a sponsored campaign hosted by fast acting Advil® Film-Coated and I received a free sample of Advil® Film-Coated. This is a sponsored post for SocialStars by Crowdtap. All opinions expressed are my own. #FastAdvil
Everyone knows, it’s a huge toll on your body to create, make and birth a sweet baby. A toll that I think is 125% worth every ounce of pain, every tear and every emotional moment. However, once you are holding that sweet baby, the reality of life with a new one around the house sets in. The new sleep schedule you will be having, the food you will or will not be able to consume due to nursing (if elected), the new daytime schedule that your baby makes for YOU. Isn’t it funny how before the baby, you could pack up and go and do just about anything you wanted…last minute. Once the sweet bundle arrives – major change of plans!
The same thing happened with my workout routine after having baby. There was NO workout routine for at least 6-8 weeks for me. My doctors always recommended that I lay low for 8 weeks, and I was fine with that. But once I wanted to get back to the gym, I wanted to get BACK to the gym. That meant diving head first. Oh the aches and pains I had from that long hiatus! Inevitable, I know.
I wanted to share with you some things I did to help ease myself back in to a schedule of working out. Working out is not for everyone. It is however, a part of me and who I am. For me, it’s not necessarily to lose weight (although a MAJOR benefit). For me, it’s more about health. Plus, I have four little ladies watching me as they grow. You hear all the time that the little people are watching and copying you and what you do. I want them to copy my good habits. And working out is one of them!
- Doctors approval – first and foremost!
- Take is slow and easy. Seriously. It’s not worth injuring yourself. If you do that, you will set yourself back even more. Listen to your body.
- Start with a plan. Stick with the plan. But don’t beat yourself up over it if you miss something in the plan. Adjust and know that tomorrow is another day.
- If you DO have pain, take a pain reliever! Advil® is my go-to. You don’t have to be super mom and deal with it. You are already Supermom after just waking up today!! Let the fast-acting Advil® Film-Coated Tablets “take the pain away” faster, for now, so you can get on with your day! I did want to point out something that I learned, and maybe you didn’t know it as well. There is a difference in the ‘fast-acting’ versus regular Advil® . The fast acting is more soluble, and dissolves faster which can then be absorbed in to your body faster due to ‘an ion core of ibuprofen sodium, a salt form of ibuprofen that is much more soluble in water than standard ibuprofen’. Boom, science at it’s best!
- Take baby steps. don’t start back training for a marathon. Just start walking and getting your blood pumping. That will do more than you know! If you want to do something little before you get back at the gym, pick up some weights and do some light exercises at home. Believe me, after having a baby your body will notice even the littlest things. Refer to #4, you will need it lol!
- Reduce the sweets. Yup, I said it. *GASP* However, it’s not forever and I do cheat here and there. Heck, we earn a cheat every now and then!
- Enjoy the journey. Know that you can love your body how it is now and how it was and how it will be in the future. Enjoy every single second with your sweet baby, because it goes way to fast. Smile often! 🙂
I’d love to hear what advice you have too! What has worked for you? I’m still in the thick of getting back in shape, as are so many other moms out there. I’d love any advice you have to share!

November 14, 2014 at 6:16 pmIt is definitely difficult to lose the weight after baby but baby steps is definitely right. Success is achieved through small efforts daily.
