Wow, I can hardly believe we are already in the middle of our 12 14 Days of Christmas Event at The SIMPLE Moms! Confession time :: besides for a few random gifts for my children I haven’t purchased a single other Christmas present yet. Not. A. One.
When I’m making my list this next week I’ll be adding on a special entry that is very near and dear to my heart, holiday gift donations for kids. You see, once upon a time, I was one of those kids who received a gift from a stranger at Christmas.
Though the story of why my family was blessed in that specific manner one Christmas is much to long to include here, I will share the most important lesson of my experience :: It matters. To each child who receives a new toy at Christmas that is their very own, it really matters.
A couple months ago my girls got to try the new Peppa Pig toys (review here). We’re well past the I-love-you-just-because-you’re-new phase and my daughters (ages 2 & 5) are still enthralled with their Peppa Pig toys. In fact, I’ve refereed more than one “It’s my turn!” argument about a Peppa Pig toy this week.
In a couple days I’ll be dropping these little girl approved Peppa Pig toys off at a local non-profit that helps homeless families get back on their feet by providing temporary housing for up to 30 days.
When you’re standing in line waiting for the doors to open on Black Friday at Toys-R-Us this year I challenge you to remember to add some toys to your cart for kids who you don’t even know. For preschool aged girls this holiday season I suggest adding some Peppa Pig toys because while it may not see like a super big deal to you, to them it really matters.
