unnamedIf you are not one of the many parents out there who already own the book “Guess How Much I Love You” by Sam McBratney I highly suggest adding this children’s classic to your home library. My eldest and I still tell each other that “I love you to the moon and back” and I hope she never grows out of the phase where she will play along with me to say that!

Whether you already own the book or not though I am fairly certain that your kiddos will enjoy watching the new Guess How Much I Love You: Hidden Treasures DVD released from Entertainment One.

Inspired by the book this Disney Junior series is an adaptation of the adventures of Little Nutbrown Hare and his father, Big Nutbrown Hare. The DVD includes 7 episodes of Little Nutbrown Hare’s adventures with his father and other forest friends (including a fox, squirrel, bird, and snowy owl).

My girls enjoyed watching Little Nutbrown Hare learn from the title episode, “Hidden Treasures,” about how even the ordinary can be extraordinary. It didn’t hurt that this lesson involved sparkly rocks and other shiny/sparkly things (because they love both rocks and things that sparkle).

Little Nutbrown Hare continues onto other adventures that include lessons about the importance of friendship, honesty, learning from mistakes, and embracing each other’s differences, among others.

This 80 minute DVD is not rated, but the great illustrations, cute animals and friends, and lessons to be learned made this a perfect quiet time movie for both my 3-year-old and her 6-year-old sister.
