We have found our new favorite yard game! We have played it at the beach, in our yard, and even at a family wedding! It has some volleyball elements and some four square rules to it, but it is an awesome game of its own.
I was first introduced to the game on our family vacation. We loved that it was a game that could span generations with age each group setting their own pace. We brought it down to the beach with us, and realized that just about every group at the beach had already been introduced to this amazing new game! Really, within a close distance of us there were at least 5 other nets set up with people playing on the sand, and some even in the shallow water!
The game is a blast! You play with 2 teams of 2, and it can easily be set up into tournaments.
The rules are easy to learn, the game is easy to set up, and I know we will be playing often at home and bringing it with us many places we go!
Spikeball has become a favorite for us and many others! It is a great game to bring along on vacation, weekend trips, and day trips, and is an awesome game to have when you have company! If you are really competitive you can find other people playing and get involved in tournaments!
Here are some of the rules:
The sport of roundnet is played 2 vs 2, with a taut hula hoop sized Spikeball net placed between the teams. A player starts a point by serving the ball down on the net so it ricochets up at his opponents. They have up to three hits between them (just like Volleyball) to control the ball and bounce it back off the net. When they miss, you score. Did we mention that there are no boundaries? Once a point starts, players can move or hit the ball anywhere.
Really, go out and get this game! For your kids, for your friends, for your family! It s a blast and can be played anywhere! Even our little ones enjoy being around the game!
What do you think of Spikeball? Have you played before? Where would you take it to play?
