The first time I heard that schools were handing out iPads to high school students, my jaw hit the floor! Are these schools mad? They are letting these kids take these iPads home? Don’t they realize they’ll be destroyed in less than a week?

Well, apparently these schools knew a thing or two about what they were doing because not only are they continuing with programs like these but they now hand out iPads to middle school students and even upper elementary! And here I was worrying about returning my Algebra book at the end of my freshman year with a page accidentally torn out of it! Times…they are a changin’!

Well, if you happen to be one of those parents whose kids are being entrusted with a lovely new iPad this school year, have no fear! I have the perfect backpack for you!! Meet the Sport Elite S140 Tablet Backpack from Pelican ProGear Backpacks. The only tablet backpack you’ll they’ll ever want!

Known for their amazing gear, Pelican ProGear has created the Sport Elite S140 Tablet Backpack with today’s student in mind! First and foremost, it features a top compartment that is weather tight and crush-proof just for your tablet & keyboard (separated by a nice pad) or netbook. Quick loading access so they can load up and make it in time for the bus but a secure close that means their tablet won’t be falling out when they do finally make it on the bus.

The backpack also includes a spacious middle section for books (wait, they still have those, right?), note books, etc. The front zippered areas are great for extra supplies and the very front features a rigid front plate to help protect other smaller devices (phone, camera, etc). As if that wasn’t enough, there is this really cool “secret” back section that sits at the small of your back where you can keep more stuff that you don’t necessarily want the general public having access to (I’m thinking purse or wallet).

Add in the floating shoulder straps, chest strap, and lumbar pad and you have one seriously comfortable fitting backpack! Great for when your student actually does bring home books and homework, because those loads can get pretty heavy!

While the Sport Elite S140 is probably overkill for elementary school aged kids, I think it’s a great option for middle school, high school and college ages. It gives them the room and support they need for carrying lots of stuff and the toughness they need to keep tablets and netbooks safe. Because, let’s face it, at some point during the school year, that bag is going to get tossed onto the floor of the bus, into the corner of the dorm room or into the back seat of a car. You’ll rest easier knowing everything is protected in the Pelican Sport Elite S140!

Oh, and, thinking specifically for college kids…this Elite Tablet Backpack would be a dream when it comes to traveling home for the holidays or weekends. Whether your student is heading home by car, train, bus or plane, they can pack this bag full with all of their gear while keeping it secure and safe. They may need to just figure out another way to bring home the dirty laundry!
