here we go again

We had a scare this week. My son missed a step and flew down the stairs. Once I looked him over I knew we had to go the emergency room. My husband wanted me to take fine to prompt care and I informed him they did not accept our insurance. I then had to inform him that our son had broke his wrist.  When I told my six-year-old son that we had to go the hospital he freaked out!  He was so worried about getting the Coronavirus, but I told him we had masks to wear and we would be okay.

I didn’t admit it to him, but I was just as worried about going to the emergency room as he was.  Daily I have been telling my kiddos not to do anything that would result in a trip to the emergency room.  Thankfully we did have two masks to wear to the emergency room, but it did make me realize that we didn’t have enough masks for our family of five.  I had planned to make some of the fabric masks just in case we needed them, but since we have been abiding by the quarantine guidelines our first outdoor adventure was Mother’s Day.   Although my husband is over all of this with the Coronavirus I’m still overly cautious.

I was on the phone with my sister-in-law when she mentioned she had to have fabric masks for when she returns to work Monday.  She is a cosmetologist  I told her I could make her some for her.  She wanted to know what kind I made and I told her I haven’t made any, but I was sure I could figure it out.  With her suggestions I decided to go with the

Since I was going to make some masks for my sister-in-law I decided to make them for the kids as well.  We are required to wear masks in specific places–not everywhere.

Are you having to wear masks out in public where you live?

I don’t know if it’s “required”, but masks are certainly recommended. Even so, only about half or fewer of the people I have seen out and about are wearing masks. Generally, from what I’ve seen, adult women wear them, and some older men, but very few young adult men around here wear them. This is Trump Country, so I believe there is a correlation. And I rarely see kids out, which I think is great!
Man, I can understand the secret fears you must have had having to go to the ER. I really hope your son is feeling better…and that he watches his step from now on!
