As much as we love summer fun, sun, and swimming, there are days that we need to stay home and get things done. I refuse to let the kids watch TV or play video games all day. They often forget they have bins of toys to play with. Of course they’ve lost the new factor they held from Christmas, but sometimes it’s like the poor toys in the closet on Toy Story 4 that haven’t been chosen in a while. Encourage your kids to pull out their toys and play.
Hex “Bugs” battle spiders are Micro-Robotic creatures that crawl around sensing objects in their path and avoiding them using their bump sensor feelers. My house is infested with “bugs”. 🙂 Wherever they have been played with last is where they lurk….counters, window sills, hallways, and bedrooms.
While this photo looks like they are terrorizing our cat with their robot bugs, the photo was caught mid yawn. He was too cool to be fooled by these creepy crawly robots. I’m kind of nervous of them because I have arachnophobia, but I can tolerate these spiders in our home.

The play options are endless. I found my daughter marching her bug around her doll house and the boys added Radz bunny heads to their Hex Bug Spiders. Sorry for yet another Toy Story reference, but it reminded me of Sid’s creation on Toy Story.
Outside of keeping up with the kid’s battery usage this summer, I’m happy to see them play with toys, laugh together, and invent new ways to enjoy HexBugs.
Another really fun toy they’ve been enjoying this summer is the HEXBUG Box Sumo. This is a new addition to their toy lineup and it’s a great self-contained toy. The boxing ring doubles as the box that holds all the pieces of this toy. You put a nano bug inside a box to create your sumo character, turn it on, and let the bugs vibrate their way to victory.
This toy would make a great gift idea for a friend. It’s also handy if you are traveling and want to let the kids bring along a little toy. I appreciate that it’s under $15. That’s typically my gift budget for family/friend parties.
I hope you can see by the boys’ faces how much they are enjoying one another’s company and this toy. Double win!
These toys are available at a wide variety of retailers including Amazon, Target, and Walmart. I hope you can add them to your collection of toys. I’m always happy to find an affordable toy that brings enjoyment, promotes creativity, and gets them unplugged for a little bit.
