Can’t we all be friends? Why yes, yes we can! Let’s start now and choose this if we haven’t already! But on that note, I have some great information to share with you today on women! Empowering Women Together!
Walmart has recently launched a significant campaign/program/initiative…whatever you want to call it! Whatever work you place the most importance on, let’s go with that. Let’s chat about this women’s economic empowerment campaign…and the name, Empowering Women Together. Take a second and please watch this short video ::
Empowering Women Together is another initiative in advancing Walmart’s commitment to global women’s economic empowerment.
That’s something we can all get behind, isn’t it? Women have taken leaps and bounds over the years in the corporate world, climbing the corporate ladder, becoming corporate executives, business owners and on and on. Way to go! But for now, there is still proof that the women who are achieving these great feats are still not recognized or paid as much as their male counter parts. Why is that? Only time will tell. But for now, we are doing our part to Empower ladies and bring this to the attention of the world.
At Walmart, they are designating certain products to drive traffic to women owned businesses in their empowering Women Together line. You can see this line on the Walmart website, or click HERE.
I want to take a minute and tell you a little more in depth about this. So check this out…
- Empowering Women Together is a place, online, where people can go and shop for unique products….stuff you won’t find anywhere else. All of these products come from small, women-owned businesses AROUND the world. Cool, right? By making these purchases, consumers are helping to create new jobs and/or improve the lives of the people and business owners and their families and communities.
- Walmart is huge. By putting this Empowering women Together initiative out there, it gives these women a platform that they wouldn’t have dreamed about reaching in a million years. Bravo Walmart!
- Empowering Women Together is now live, at the launch there were over “200 items from 19 businesses in nine countries! Products include jewelry from Peru, Rwanda, Kenya and the U.S.; home accessories from Rwanda and Haiti; paper mache from Haiti, apparel and accessories from Rwanda; iPad and laptop cases from Cambodia and Nepal; coffee and tea sets sourced globally and made in America; and specialty foods made in America and Canada.”
Empowering Women Together is an element of Walmart’s Global Women’s Economic 5-year commitment through 2016 to source $20 billion from women-owned businesses.
