From a stomach bug to greasy foods here are five ways to help with an upset stomach. Some of them your probably already know about but I am hoping there are a few that you don’t and it will be able to help.
- Ginger – Ginger is one of the most popular natural remedies for upset stomach and it works pretty well. It helps relax the intestinal tract to quickly soothe stomach pain. Typically, fresh ginger will give you the best results.
- Apple cider vinegar – Make sure the ACV you buy is organic and still contains “mother” apple. Bragg’s ACV is what I use. Mix 1-2 tablespoons in a glass of warm water, you can add some honey for taste.
- Chamomile and peppermint tea – Chamomile and peppermint are excellent for soothing the muscle lining of the digestive tract. They contain anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic properties and are known to quickly calm an upset stomach. You can easily buy chamomile tea and peppermint tea from most grocers.
- Cinnamon and bananas – Bananas are easily digested and help to absorb acid and gas in the belly, which causes stomach aches. They are rich in pectin and potassium that will also help harden your stool if you have diarrhea. Cinnamon contain powerful calming properties to settle an upset stomach. By consuming a teaspoon of cinnamon three times a day can give you the best results.
- Pepto bismol – Pepto-Bismol is very effective and powerful natural remedy for upset stomach, diarrhea, indigestion, GERD and heartburn. I found this route very effective for my upset stomach and heartburn. Since having baby C and not nursing – I am still experiencing heartburn and the Pepto bismol takes care of it.
