While I can get away with playing purely instrumental lullabies for my girls at bedtime, there is a near riot every other time of day I try to soothe my girls to sleep with music.
Thank to Hot Peas ‘n Butter‘s newest release Catchin’ Some Peazzz I have turned into one very sneaky mom who has managed to get some much needed daytime relaxation in.
You may be familiar with Hot Peas ‘n Butter from some of their more upbeat offerings as seen on Nick Jr. and Noggin. They also have had a very successful run in the top 100 songs on Sirius Satellite Radio. Their new release is a little different…
Catchin’ Some Peazzz is a combination of original lullabies with soft renderings of well-known favorites. I love how the first song on the album is a very relaxing version of “Itsy Bitsy Spider.”
This brilliant beginning for the album caught my 2-year-old daughter’s attention without riling her up and before song #2 had finished she was out cold for a much needed nap. Of course, her big sister took it as a personal challenge to stay awake that day, but her chattering was much more subdued than normal and I am giving Hot Peas ‘n Butter the credit for my (mostly) quiet ride home.
This is a great album to check out whether you have kids who are still young enough to fall asleep to a good lullaby or kids who are a little older that sometimes need a little help with quiet time.
