Have you found the perfect diaper bag? One that fits all the things you need in it? I think narrowing down to what you really want out of a diaper bag can be challenging when it is your first baby. You ultimately are not going to know what you really want until you have your baby and are using a diaper bag.

Finding the right diaper bag for your needs can significantly reduce the stress you may experience while you are out with baby. Diaper changes away from home are not always a piece of cake and a great bag will make things simpler by assuring that you have everything you need and keeping it well organized for easy-access. A tote that is stylish but lacking in function will send your sleep deprived brain into a tailspin. However, you don’t HAVE to sacrifice style for function.

Here is what I found to help make it easier to choose a diaper bag:

• Type & Style – Yes, style is important. But if your diaper bag isn’t comfortable to carry, you will not be psyched to use it. You may get flustered when encountered with the many types and styles of bags from which to choose. However, when it comes down to actually carrying the bag, there really are 4 main types: tote, messenger, backpack and stroller handlebar.
• Quality and Cost – This is a tough one, while I don’t want hinder quality because of the price, you can still find a happy medium when it comes to a diaper bag.  Depending on the type of material, that would definitely be something that would make cost higher and quality better.
• Ease of Use – You are going to want a bag that is easy to carry and find what you need in it.  For me a tote is much easier to carry and find what I need, rather then a messenger or back pack type bag. I love all the little pockets and places to put things.

 

• Fabric and material – The fabric and material that your diaper bag is made out of is a huge decision to make.  Your going to want something that is either washable or something you can easily wipe up. Spills happen and dirty diapers!
• Features and accessories – Many diaper bags come with a changing pad, bottle holder and zip pouch.  These are things that will make things simpler for your. Plus, make it easier to find things in your bag. A changing pad is a huge plus because you can set it anywhere to change your baby. Often times with totes, they will come with a shoulder strap as well, if you like those types of things.  Another option that has come with a few diaper bags is straps for the stroller.
