Toy clutter is inevitable. If you have kids, you have toys. The frugal side of me doesn’t want to throw away perfectly good toys, but we have a small home that I want to keep tidy. I’ve been trying different storage methods for years.
Boxes
This is the most obvious option but I think we often resist it because we forget about things in boxes. Boxes can be stacked and stored in closets to help keep the clutter down. If your closets are not big enough, it might be time to upgrade to something more suitable. You could visit Tylko for the best wardrobes to help you to adapt to your kids growing storage needs. Our closets don’t have doors so it is extra important to me to keep them well organized.
Wall hangings
You can put a lot of different items under the name wall hangings because there are so many different options. There are shelves that you can display some of their favorite toys and net bags that can hold all of their soft animals. There are even brackets that can be hung on the wall to get bikes up off the ground. Just make sure things are accessible for your children to get to these toys safely. If you are happy having things up and don’t mind lifting them down again at playtime, then this can be a good option for you.
Under the bed
There are beds that have storage built-in or you can add baskets and boxes that slide under the bed frame. This type of storage is great because it doesn’t add more clutter to the room. There is no need to clear space to stack boxes or add extra storage because it is all tucked away. This can make tidy up time a lot easier. If you don’t have a storage bed or there is no room under the frame for boxes, then you could use bags and store the things that they don’t use often out of the way. The point is this, use that real estate under the bed to keep things clean and neat.
Hidden storage
On the back of our previous point, there are plenty of places in your home that can act as hidden storage. There is a good chance that you are using them already but you could move things around. For example, if you have a footstool that is filled with junk, clear it out and use it for things that you can use in that room. Now you have a hidden toy box in the living room to throw things in when people call around. There is a lot of furniture that is being made with the idea of hidden storage behind it. We happen to charge and keep this drone in a side table drawer because they like to play with it in the living room since we have vaulted ceilings. Keep toys out of sight, but where they can still use and enjoy them.
