Pictures, pictures, pictures! I think everyone can relate to having a phone full of pictures all the time! I am constantly finding myself running out of room on my phone because of the hundreds of pictures I have yet to transfer. I’ve been looking for ideas on how to organize my pictures, keep the ones that are necessary, print the ones needed, and display some of the best shots. Here are a few ideas I have found successful now that I am organizing photos of my precious little ones.
1. Delete duplicates that won’t be used.
I’ve found so many times that in my rush to clear space off my phone that I transfer too many photos that I will never use. I have started to go through and find the best shot/shots for each moment and delete the rest. While some “out takes” can be pretty humorous, especially with toddlers, thirty pictures of the same pose usually is not necessary. I find these extras are usually there as I try to capture monthly pictures or special holiday pictures.
2. Take pictures that you will want to remember.
We don’t get a lot of professional pictures taken as a family, but on my own I try to take some good photos at different milestones, and in the first year of life I try to capture some of their personality and accomplishments through a monthly photo. I love this monthly photo easel panel that I ordered from Photo Affections showing some of the fun things in my little guy’s first year of life.
3. Print pictures, but be selective.
I have been on both extremes of overprinting and not printing any pictures from certain time periods. I try to print pictures monthly to make sure I have what I need for scrapbooking and displaying in our home, without having an overload of pictures sitting around in drawers. Apps like FreePrints are a great way to do this!
4. Take lots of pictures while enjoying the moment.
I try to make sure I don’t get so wrapped up in taking pictures of things in our life that I forget to live in the moment. I do realize, however, how much pictures can bring back some of life’s best memories for everyone! So, enjoy time with those you love, but don’t forget to take some pictures!
5. Create folders-on your computer and in the file cabinet.
Labeling your pictures digitally and keeping them organized on your computer can really help when you are looking for those certain pictures. I have also started files for each year of my kids life that I can store important things including photos. This way I can make sure that even if I don’t have time to put them in the baby book or scrapbook immediately, I will still have them ready.
One of my new favorite companies for ordering prints and photo products is Photo Affections. They have an awesome service to order prints through an app called FreePrints as well as amazing birth announcements, canvas prints, photo easels, and phone cases! We love the birth announcements we ordered for our sweet girl.
What are some of your ideas to keep pictures organized? I’m always looking for more!
