Sometimes in this day and age where a vast majority of kids seem to need a calendar just to keep track of their schedules, I feel like it is a confession to say that I frequently make my children free play and entertain themselves. Yeah, no help from me with a direction, structured activity or craft, or even an idea of what toy they should get out. Can I also say that my children have fabulously entertaining imaginations?
Now, I may not give them day-to-day guides on how or what to play but I am the parent who makes decisions about what toys are here in our home to help them facilitate their own play time. In their toy selections I try to choose wisely and while the standard wooden blocks, small figurines, and dress up clothes are all on our list of must haves another absolute favorite are Magformers.
We first started our Magformers collection a few years ago and it was fun to see my oldest quickly grasp the concepts of how the different magnetic shapes could connect to each other to create new shapes and structures. She would easily spend hours creating various structures for her and her younger sister to play with.
Now it is my youngest daughter’s turn to be the builder along with her big sis and she is LOVING the new
My First Set series from Magformers. Not only is she able to create endless combinations of structures and shapes (they built a replica of our house, outbuildings, and neighbor’s house with pond this week) she can also follow the instructional cards and booklet for some guidance when she wants.
While the My First Set series is fun for my 6-year-old I am really exited for our newest addition to be at the recommended 3+ years of age where he can use the booklet and instructional cards to learn about shapes, colors, patterns, and animals. This Magformers set is going to be a great way to keep him entertained while still being educational. Win-win!
Who in your life would enjoy these fun My First Sets from Magformers? Any fun creations you can just imagine them piecing together?
