My daughter has been preparing for the day she would have the opportunity to play high school softball. Without any reservations I knew she would make the team, but I did wonder if she would be a starter. Conditioning started in November and the tryouts were at the end of January, and we have already begun the season.
My eldest daughter has really gotten into photography this year and wanted to take some pictures of her sister in her uniform, and I selected my favorite ones to share. She has enjoyed photography so much she would like take pictures on the side for extra money.
The JV Team is made up of 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th graders so I wasn’t sure if she would start, but I’m happy to say she is a starter and her starting position is 2nd base. When she is not playing second she is on 3rd. I’m excited to say she is the only starting 7th grader in the infield!
So far it has been an exciting season-they have already had an International Tie Breaker with their rivals. The International Tie Breaker rule goes into effect when a game is tied in the 7th inning. At the start of each inning, a runner is placed on second base- the runner will be the last batter scheduled to bat in this inning. However, any eligible player may be substituted for this runner, but since my daughter is fast they used her.
My daughter ended up stealing 3rd and homebase during this inning. Unfortunately, they didn’t win this game, but it was still an exciting game. It really has been exciting to see her play for my Alma Mater and in the same position!
