kalorik logoAs a busy mom I’m all about finding ways to make my life easier or to save myself time. One of my favorite ways to do this is with fun and functional kitchen gadgets. Now, while all new gadgets are fun the first couple weeks you have them there are precious few that are still just as useful a couple of months down the line. The Kalorik S.S/Black Jug Kettle is quickly becoming one of my all-time favorite useful kitchen gadgets and has easily become the most used gadget in my kitchen!

Black Jug KettleMy Kalorik S.S/Black Jug Kettle arrived in the mail two months back and I have been putting it to good use ever since then. While there are a lot of electric kettles out there I loved that the Kalorik S.S/Black Jug Kettle was not only classy looking but that it also was large enough to make more than a cup or two of tea.  The concealed heating element makes it easy to clean, and the automatic shut off switch makes it so getting distracted by those kid-mergencies that always occur doesn’t mean my water will boil away and destroy the kettle.

If you’re thinking an electric water kettle like the Kalorik Jug Kettles is only for boiling water to make tea or cocoa think again. Here’s a list of a few of the ways I’ve used my Kalorik S.S/Black Jug Kettle so far in addition to simply making tea or cocoa:P1100240

  • Instant Oatmeal
  • Canning: keep extra boiling water ready to top off  canning pot if needed during the water canning process
  • Sterilizing: just boil water and pour over items needing sterilizing
  • Pasta: pre-heat your cooking pot with a small amount of water and then add in a jug kettle full of boiling water (this one is a HUGE time saver with dinner!), or have extra boiling water going in case too much of the water boils away before the pasta is cooked
  • Hotdogs: pour boiling water over hotdogs and let them sit to cook/heat up
  • Cooking/Baking: for recipes that call for a specified temperature of water, just mix with cold as needed to create the perfect temp water.
  • Heating Bottles: use hot water in a heat safe bowl to heat your baby formula or milk, if I’d had an electric kettle like this 4 years ago I wouldn’t have needed a bottle warmer!
