There’s some bittersweet feelings behind this post. When our new Lands’ End backpacks arrived, we were headed back to school on August 26th. Since then, we have 17 more Covid cases then our governor in California will allow for our schools to open. There’s still a few weeks for things to change, but my heart is heavy. Remember THIS post about how homeschooling is not a desire of my heart? I never dreamed when school was closed last March that it would last longer then a few weeks. I suppose I’m glad I didn’t know that half a year later we would be sitting where we are now with not much forward progress.
Whether we go back to school in person or we are at home online, the kids will need backpacks to store all their books. When we did the online learning at home I had the kids pack their books and supplies away each night in their backpacks so we could get it all off the kitchen table. We will use the same system this year, but I’ll be secretly hoping to wake up one day and wave goodbye to them as they leave for school with those backpacks in tow.
Lands’ End is a really special company. They don’t cut corners on their quality or their customer service. Not even during these times of uncertainty for businesses. I have no doubt that Jack will be able to use this backpack until he graduates in 2025. Our school also uses the Lands’ End uniforms. It simplifies our lives and I think the kids look so sharp. A quick tip: I like to wash all the kid’s backpacks each quarter. We typically have a grading day when the kids get a long weekend and I wash the backpacks and they have time to dry. This keeps them looking brand new.
