leapfrog and the magic school bus: dinosaurs :: review

leapfrog Magic School Bus® dinosaurs gameI have one very girly girl, one that we aren’t sure yet and one somewhere in the middle.  My one in the middle is my oldest.  Some days she loves to be super girly, other days she loves to get down and wear her gym clothes.  She is very curious about EVERYTHING. So when I had the opportunity to check out the LeapFrog Explorer Learning Game, The Magic School Bus Dinosaurs, I knew right away that would be right up her alley!  Matter of fact, last year, for a few months straight, she was constantly reading, learning and asking questions about dinosaurs!  The title got me!

This is an interactive game from Scholastic (you know that trust-worthy name, right?), and based on science…but in a fun way!  And it’s from LeapFrog, another trust-worthy name.  Placing these two names together make for a predictable experience.

The Magic School Bus: Dinosaurs encourages dinosaur fans ages 5-9 to think like scientists as they learn about prehistoric creatures. Young science enthusiasts travel back in time with Ms. Frizzle to the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous time periods, playing six games that teach fundamental life science concepts and learning hundreds of facts about sixteen prehistoric creatures.

My daughter has a LeapPad and I wasn’t sure it would work with it.  You know, there are all these gaming devices these days, it’s hard to keep up!  I am happy to report that this game/cartridge is compatible with LeapFrog’s LeapPad1 and LeapPad2, Leapster GS and Leapster Explorer.

If you like the sounds of this one, be sure to check out the first Magic School Bus title from LeapFrog, The Magic School Bus: Oceans.  This was a very successful game for them as well selling over 100,000 copies to date!

I’m very happy with this.  Lilianna has been happy with it.  We allot 1/2 hour time slots for “gaming” and whenever that buzzer goes off, she is always yearning for more time to play this!  I am definitely looking in to the Oceans cartridge as a Christmas gift idea 🙂

Magic School Bus®: Dinosaurs :: $24.99 estimated retail value.  I found it for $18.74 on Amazon
