I feel like baby milestones are alway a little bittersweet. On one hand, your baby is accomplishing some new skill and is showing you how wonderful they are, on the other hand your baby is steadily becoming less and less of a baby… AHHH!
We have slowly but steadily been moving towards a baby milestone that is less bittersweet and more just sweet in my book. You see, my little guy is starting to work on his walking skills – pulling himself up to standing and cruising along the furniture. Most parents would slightly freak out at the thought of a walking 8 month old but I am all for it with this particular child for one very good reason:
He’s a giant.
No really, at 8 months old my not-so-little guy is solidly the size of a 2-year-old and a beast to carry around all the time. If there were instances where he could just walk where I needed to get him I would be oh so happy.
One of his favorite places to practice his standing and slow-moving walking skills is with his Little Balance Box. Besides for being just his size, the Little Balance Box makes a great place to drum (because LOUD noises) and lets him stand in once place or slowly cruise around.
Made out of sustainable bamboo the Little Balance Box is free of sharp edges (everything is rounded!) and has a BPA and PVC free polycarbonate top. The feet may look a little strange if you’re used to walking toys with wheels, but the dynamic floating feet that move up and down help provide sensory input for your little one to develop coordination.
While it’s great that the nylon feet easily slide from one floor surface to another for my little guy to use without damaging our floors I really appreciate when it is in a stationary position for me to set items on during feeding time. My phone, water, and the bottle are always within reach at feeding time without having to move an end table near!

February 5, 2016 at 10:03 amThis is awesome! My 1 year old isn’t walking by herself yet but uses everything that moves to use as a walker lol. She uses little chairs, stools, even her little tikes garden house to walk around. This seems like a much better, safer way!

February 10, 2016 at 6:48 pmI wish they’d had such a great idea like this when my older kids were learning to walk as well! Those wheel toys sure do move faster than the baby when they’re learning.
