**out of business** little passenger seats :: add a seat or a row to your vehicle :: review

UPDATED June 2018

It’s recently been brought to my attention that Little Passenger Seats has gone out of business. I found this information HERE on the BBB site and I also tried to contact them unsuccessfully. I’m very sorry to hear this information myself. My apologies that we can’t help you purchase this seat or direct you to where to purchase one.

little passenger featured imageCan’t afford a van? That was us. This is by far the most helpful product I’ve been able to review for our family. We have been using our Little Passenger Seat for a few months now. I wanted to give it a really good test drive so I could tell you all the amazing ways we’ve benefited from having an extra seat in our SUV.

When we had our 3rd child in 2013, my husband and I had to switch cars to fit 3 car seats across the back. I loved my economical Corolla, but I was tired of feeling like I just buttoned jeans 3 sizes too small when I got all the kids in the car, buckled, and the doors shut. It was a hot, sweaty, frustrating ordeal. I did it once and threw in the towel. {Picture an angry, hormonal mom with a newborn trying to get to church for the first time with 3 kids.}

We couldn’t afford a van. There was just no way we could swing it. Our 2nd car is a really comfortable Envoy, but it only has 5 seats. While it was able to fit our 3 car seats across the back, it was a squeeze. That left me looking for options to spread out. I found Little Passenger Seats in a quick google search and I was instantly captivated with the idea of adding a 3rd row or extra seat in the back of our SUV. I read testimonials, reviews, and I even called and asked a bazillion questions. I knew I had found the answer to our vehicle woes. I was no longer discontent that we didn’t have a van.

easy installation and removalSingle Seat

I needed to save cargo room for our stroller and Costco runs so I opted for the single seat. It’s perfect for our family of 5. It folds up when we aren’t using it. We have not given up our cargo space one bit. We also have been able to not only spread our kids out, but they can have a friend over now that we have an extra seat. Another bonus: We recently had someone take us to the airport instead of borrowing a bigger vehicle or paying for parking. The seat has paid for itself from all the times it has saved us from driving 2 cars or paying for airport parking.

little passenger seatsI’m forgetting the best part. It’s CRAZY AFFORDABLE! Depending on your vehicle, the single seat starts around $500. It’s custom made to match your car. Ours is beautiful and you would never know it didn’t come with the car. It’s been safety tested by Federal Motor Vehicle Standards. There are many testimonials about the safety of the seat as well. I would never put our kids in an unsafe situation. We feel very comfortable with our children riding in the Little Passenger Seat. Our 5 and 7 year old take turns. They love riding in the seat!  It’s for ages 4+ or adults up to 5 ft. 9. Do you have kids that get car sick easily? Ours do! As long as they look out the back or the front, they have been fine. We have not had any mishaps, and that was a concern I had. It’s a truly fabulous addition to our car and our family life.

Bench Seat

I didn’t review the bench seat, but they start around $1,000. If we were planning to have a few more kids, I would have gotten the bench seat. You know your needs and you can read more about the deluxe seat at www.littlepassengerseats.com.

Easy to Install and Remove

We are not handy people. I am not trying to throw a jab at my husband, but our expertise on fixing or installing items is very minimal. (He has other qualities that make him a keeper!) 🙂 I was very skeptical when they told us we could install this seat ourselves, but it was so easy. It has a custom plate for our vehicle and all we had to do was bolt it in. Instructions were minimal because it’s just plain EASY! We did it without any issues or struggles. IF folding it up for more cargo space is not sufficient, it is no big deal to take it out if needed. It’s nice that we aren’t giving up our cargo options.

So basically, for around $500 we now have the perfect car for our family. We didn’t have to sell a car and come up with another $5,000+ to get a van. We haven’t had to spend money we didn’t have, we have lower auto insurance on our SUV vs. a van, and we didn’t have to deal with the hassle of selling and buying a vehicle. I hope this post finds you in time to save your family money as well. You can keep your big, safe, 4 wheel drive SUV; and safely seat all your precious cargo too.

Let me leave you with a video of Jay Leno’s Garage YouTube show. They featured Little Passenger Seats recently. I got to meet Samantha when I picked up our seat. She’s just as cute in person. Great company, great product!

I had no idea about these, it is really such a fantastic idea. These would be great when you want to go somewhere and take the kids friends with you. I know the kids will love it.

It is great Marti! We’ve had it since the fall (2014) and they still fight over whose turn it is to ride in the new seat.

What a great review! We are looking at getting either 2 single seats or the bench for the back of our Suburban. With 6 kids, we have enough room currently, but we sometimes like to bring the kids’ friends along. Definitely find this helpful. Thanks!

Linsey this makes me happy for you. It’s amazing how much it helps having an extra seat. We could never take a friend or a cousin home without taking 2 cars. You are a busy lady with 6 kids! 🙂 Let me know if you get it and how you like it!

Ginny, in wsh I read your post years ago. We had an suv but only fit 5, although we just got rid of it and will eventually be buying another one, at this point we were only able to avoid a car that seats 5 because of finances. We have 4 kids, 2 in car seats and 2 over 5’5″. This additional seat would be very helpful to us when we buy our next car…

Awe Fiona, I feel the finances thing. That’s why I was so happy to find such an affordable way to transform our car. Well, now you know when you car shop next, you have this option to upgrade it to the # of seats you need. I wish this post found you sooner too!
