When I read the title of this book, I was thinking that I really could use some practical tips to spend less, while still living the same. My mindset going into the book was really thinking I would find some ways to still buy the same things, but spend a little less money. While Ruth Soukop does give many ways to save money throughout her New York Times bestselling book Living Well, Spending Less, she also talks a lot more about the mindset behind the spending that so many of us make a habit. A few of the most helpful things to me about the book were the places she talked about being content, making and setting goals, and being organized in many areas of life. Here is a little more about the book.
About Living Well, Spending Less
“Have you ever that your life–and budget–is spiraling out of control? Do you sometimes wish you could pull yourself together but wonder exactly how to manage all the scattered pieces of a chaotic life? Is it possible to find balance?
In a word, yes.
Ruth Soukup knows firsthand how stressful an unorganized life and budget can be. Through personal stories, biblical truth, and practical action plans, she will inspire you to make real and lasting changes to your personal goals, home, and finances. With honesty and the wisdom of someone who has been there, Ruth will help you:* Discover your “sweet spot”–that place where your talents and abilities intersect.
* Take back your time and schedule by making simple shifts in your daily habits.
* Reduce stress in your home and family by clearing out the clutter.
* Stop busting your budget and learn to cut your grocery bill in half.
* Bring order to a messy life and create a practical cleaning schedule that works.”
Without giving away too much more about this must read, I recommend this to anyone looking for ways to save money, be organized, and just find practical ways to make the best of what you have. It has given me a new outlook on my own organization, spending, and things that are really important in life.
