This past week of weather has definitely been interesting for just about all of our readers. Unusually cold (and in some cases outright dangerous) temps have called for some creative entertaining from us moms. You know, before they tear the house apart and start swinging from the light fixtures.
Thankfully when we were on day 3.5 of my girls not leaving the house I was able to pull out the super cute new movie, Lost and Found, to distract them for a little while. By that, I mean, we had two solid showings in a row.
Lost and Found, is based on the best selling book from author/illustrator Oliver Jeffers. While we have not yet read the book my girls loved the movie so much I am sure we will have to hunt the book down on our next trip to the library.
The story focuses on the unexpected, yet magical, relationship between a boy and the penguin that he one day found on his doorstep. Their journey across the ocean starts well before they even launch their homemade boat and my kids and I were entranced from the very beginning.
Tonight I asked 6-year-old Michaela to explain her favorite parts of the movie to me and she went on (in detail) about the rubber ducky sea, the friendly octopus, the boat the boy built, all the penguins, and the lunch the boy packed for himself. I really liked the rubber ducky sea as well – such a fun and cheery scene.
Lost and Found is a story about the importance of friendship and how doing the right thing is always right, even when it isn’t easy. Perfectly age appropriate for even my 3-year-old, but entertaining and engaging for adults as well. At 30 minutes running time for the movie and only 55 minutes if you watch the Making-of Featurette, the timing is right on to keep even young kids interested for the entire movie.
