St. Patrick’s Day may be my favorite holiday of the year! My mother is every bit Irish and has always kept us close to our heritage. Typically we spend St. Patrick’s Day as most spend Thanksgiving; a large feast of traditional Irish food, family, love, and as a BIG bonus my Mom’s birthday! She has always made sure to make it a special time for us! Growing up, many of my friends knew of this big dinner and would often ask to join in on our fun! We usually wrap up dinner with some Irish music and dancing, that’s after the birthday cake of course!
It is very important to me that my little trio takes part in my family traditions and have a deep understanding of their Irish heritage! So each year as we wrap up Valentines Day, we immediately begin the St. Patrick’s Day décor! THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS TOO MUCH GREEN!
I wanted to do a special craft/gift this year as it is my Mom’s 70th Birthday! My children affectionately call her “Mimi” and a handmade gift would be enough to melt her heart! So with that in mind, and in conjunction with our usual decorating, it is about that time for a St. Patricks Day craft with my little trio!
What has three leaves and is used as a symbol of Ireland? A SHAMROCK!
This craft is SIMPLE and oh so much fun!
- 12 x 12 scrapbook paper
- GREEN paint
- Sponge to apply paint
- 3 little feet!
A few of my SIMPLE craft tips:
- Prior to having children, I took up a love of scrapbooking! Now, I can’t seem to find much time for that! So I find I use my left over 12 x 12 scrapbook pages for crafts!
- I also love to use my 12 x 12 page protectors to keep my crafts safe and reusable year after year!
- I use cosmetic sponges to apply paint to their little feet! I find it much easier (and quicker!) to apply!
What a wonderful gift this has made and I even made an extra one to hang around our home!
What do YOU love about St. Patrick’s Day?
~May the luck of the Irish be with YOU!~
