I am a tree-hugging, nature-loving, free-flowing, eco-conscious flower child – and so is my kiddo. Like you all didn’t know that already. 🙂
Our Earth is important to me. I embrace our planet and its wonders: the plants, animals, mountains, valleys, lakes, rivers, oceans, and everything in between. I have made it my business to instill in my child a sense of wonder about nature. She notices and contemplates bugs and flowers, collects rocks and acorn caps, plays in dirt, and loves animals with all of her heart. I want for her to grow up to be a good steward of our planet, and to feel passionate about our ecosystem.
I take the time to notice tiny wildflowers, to recycle, to make eco-friendly consumer decisions. I cloth diaper my kid and use cloth menstrual pads, I reuse and upcycle as much as I can, I use mostly green cleaning products, I use reusable consumer goods as much as I can (snack bags, grocery bags, etc) and II try to purchase organic produce when it is available (farmer’s markets rock my socks).
I am by no means perfect, nor am I always consistent, but I truly make an effort to follow my green heart as much as possible.
You don’t have to be a flower-picking hippie like me to make greener choices. You just need an open mind and a willingness to change your habits, even if it’s one small change at a time. They will add up.
