On the 4th day of Christmas, SIMPLE gave to me… a Matthew West, The Heart of Christmas CD!
Christmas has come early this year to our house and my girls and I are loving every minute of it! A little over a week ago I played The Heart of Christmas CD for the first time. Within a couple hours I was receiving requests for “the fun Christmas music” from my girls so they could dance around the house to “Come On, Christmas” and “Jingle Bells.”
A mix of Christmas classics, such as “Silent Night” and “O Come, All Ye Faithful” are combined with original holiday tunes written by Matthew West in this 12 track album. Whether you’re a current fan of Matthew West or not this is some great music to add to your Christmas collection.
“Since the beginning of my career, I’ve dreamed of making a Christmas album,” explains West, “and I’m so excited to finally get that chance this year! The Heart of Christmas is a collection of original songs I’ve written, and some of my favorite classics. I was honored to have iconic artists like Amy Grant, Vince Gill, and Mandisa from American Idol join me on a few of the songs, and those are personal highlights for me.”
Every once in a while those Christmas stories set to song come along that just touch your heart and bring tears to your eyes (if they don’t just break your heart and make you cry). I could already tell that West’s song “One Last Christmas” was going to be a tearjerker even before I knew the story behind it all. Now I’m convinced I’ll never listen to that song again with dry eyes and I just had to share the music video for this song inspired by the amazing story of Dax Locke and how an entire community came to show love in the face of tragedy.
