my “go-to” brands for #summerfashion at @kohls :: review

Yesterday was the first day of summer. Yahhhoooo! So in good ‘ol summer fashion spirit, I thought I would put together a little post about some summer fashion that I am sporting this season! It’s time for light weight shirts, shorts, capris and dresses!

First off, I must admit to you that 99% of my clothes from Kohl’s this season are coming from the Apt. 9 and the ELLE line (click links to see their vast selection). I love the colors the patterns and the material showcased in them. Not only those things mentioned, but the variety in these two lines is pretty fantastic too! It makes shopping a breeze when I have my kids in tow because I basically know that when I step foot in these sections, I will be sure to find something.  Get to know what you like and what looks good on you and what brand it is so you can have immediate success too! That’s one huge thing I have learned over the past year. There are times to try on new styles and times when you just need a “go-to”. That is what this line is for me. They still have things that I may not always opt for immediately, but after I try them on, it turns out to be a winner!

Stripes.
I have my eye on a bajillion dresses this summer, yet I only need a few to rotate through my closet to be honest. I love all the stripes in the aisles! I found this lovely striped, sweatshirt dress, and surprisingly, it was from the Sonoma line. Of course, the one line I don’t mention above lol! It’s so great though. I wore it out on a date night and did some pink accents with it to dress it up a bit. It is made with cotton and has a drawstring waist to add some curve. Looking at it on the rack, you would think a comfortable, day time running around dress. I too have wore it for that. But I did dress it up for date night too!

Colorful shirts.
I have a few mixed-media and crepe tops from the Apt 9 line for this summer. I love the forgiving nature of the fit and the lightweight-ness. Makes this item simply perfect for summer! Whether you like patterns or straight color, you can find this Apt. 9 ditty in your style. I feel these tops are my go-to “mom tops” of the summer. They aren’t fancy right off the bat and can work for daily running around. They can easily be dressed up though too with accessories. This is typically what you will see me running errands in.

Linen-blend shorts.
Lightweight, great for daily wear and comfortable. That’s what I think when I touch and put on these shorts from Apt. 9. I picked them up in the grey, but am tempted to get another pair! I chose grey because that basically goes with everything in my closet these days! The extra detailing around the pockets brings attention to the shorts instead of my pale, white legs 🙂 It also comes with a studded belt to add a little extra pizazz. These shorts run at a 5″ hem too…which I like because I definitely not a short-shorts gal 🙂
