Earlier this fall I was super excited when the mom’s group I attend had author Crystal Bowman in as a speaker. Crystal was so kind to give me a copy My Mama & Me: Rhyming Devotions for You and Your Child to share with our readers. This rhyming devotional book for us mamas to read with our young kids was actually co-authored by Crystal Bowman and her daughter Teri McKinley (and how cool is that?).
Sometimes I wonder if my children were given a special superpower for coming up with questions about God that are sure to stump me. Not because I can’t explain the answer, but because I have to figure out how to explain it in a way that they can understand and put into context.
My girls and I have been enjoying the short rhyming devotionals from My Mama & Me: Rhyming Devotions for You and Your Child. It only takes us between 5-10 minutes to read the Bible verse, devotion, and prayer. We then can spend however much time I think they have the attention span for on that given day doing the activity provided in the “Fun Idea for Mama and Me” section.
I love how all these items tie to nicely together, plus they each have a correlating illustration by Phyllis Harris that shows different children, or mamas with their children. My kiddos stay engaged through the cute rhymes and even though this is most perfect for the preschool crowd, even my 6-year-old,0yuu has fun listening.
If you are looking for a great way to connect with your young kiddos while teaching them about God I highly recommend the My Mama & Me: Rhyming Devotions for You and Your Child. In fact, I have a couple mama friends who I think this would make the perfect Christmas gift for!

November 25, 2013 at 5:38 pmWe just stationed to a different state and finding a church has been difficult. I miss the fellowship I used to enjoy with other moms. I have taken it upon myself to teach my children and fellowship with them however, I gave been taking a hard time keeping them engaged with the same lessons and story’s over and over again. This book is just what I’ve been looking for! Thanks for posting and reviewing it!
