my top tip for staying comfortable in cute summer shoes

Spring is finally here!  While I love wearing boots in the fall and winter, I’m always so excited to shed the heavy boots and wear some cute spring and summer shoes!  But my biggest issue with cute shoes is that sometimes I feel like I have to give up comfort for fashion.  And, in all honesty, comfort wins for me every time!  I have no patience for pain–especially when I’m chasing kids around all day!  So my cute shoes often stay in the closet in favor of my more comfortable flip flops.

After a very long winter here in Michigan, I am ready to wear some cute shoes!  So I decided to try a few shoe inserts from Foot Petals.  Founded by a woman, Foot Petals are made to transform any shoe into something comfortable to wear.  From heels and boots to flats and sandals, there’s a Foot Petal for that!

My favorite flats tend to get a little dirty inside throughout the summer–and, quite frankly, they don’t always smell so fresh!  I found myself not even wanting to wear my flats because they didn’t smell good!  So  I put some Sock Free Saviors in my go-to spring flats to add a little cushion and help them stay clean and fresh throughout the season.  These insoles are treated with anti-microbial odor control that is made to last.  They are also easy to cut to the size of your shoe (and even have outlines printed on them so you can more easily cut to the proper size).  They come in black and pink (but I opted for the pink to add a little pop of summer color).

I’d almost given up on wearing heels.  The balls of my feet just can’t handle that pressure!  On the rare occasion that I would wear heels, I would wait until the very last-minute, put them on and then take them off as soon as I got back to the car–sometimes I wouldn’t even make it through an event without taking off my shoes.  But I finally got a pair of Tip Toes to stick in my heels.  These little foot pads add cushion and comfort to the ball of my foot.  And they keep my feet from sliding forward in my shoes.  So I’m able to make it through an event with shoes on my feet.  I’m pretty sure I could never wear heels all day long, but now I can plan on wearing them without fear of ending the evening barefoot!
